BGH
patient feedback rated top-notch
Since May,
2006, the federal government has looked at
healthcare with the same eye towards customer
service as the mom and pop grocery store down
the street. Only in the case of the
federal government, they tied reimbursement
compensation for Medicare payments to the
'voluntary' solicitation of customer feedback
from hospitals nationwide. The process has
been tweaked and refined and the first results
are finally available on-line. Needless to
say, many a hospital administrator has been
sweating this first release of results.
Across the board, BGH rated high scores from
those patients that returned the questionaire/survey.
89% of BGH's patients gave the local hospital
scores of 9 to 10 on the question relating to
"Overall Rating". When it came
to "Willingness to Recommend BGH to
others," 83% of our patients said they
would definitely recommend the local hospital,
while the State and U.S. Average were both 67%.
Our attending physicians were also highly rated
by patients. Three questions related directly to
physician care, i.e., "how often did
doctors treat you with courtesy and respect,
listen carefully to you and explain things in a
way you could understand
it."
All said and
done, it was a very good first report
card. But as BGH Administrator/CEO Michael
Morris told the hospital board, "It's a
learning tool."
Ironically, the
hospital's advertising slogan has for some years
been... "We'll Take Good Care of
You." Enough said. That's
not just our logo on billboards around the
county, it's our promise and commitment to
you. Want to check out BGH and other

BGH
recertified Basic Level IV Trauma Center
It's official,
the certificate has arrived from the Texas
Department of State Health Services.
"We knew we had a good survey, "
Morris said, "We were just waiting for the
official certification to arrive before
announcing it." This means BGH has
met all standards of care relating to the
treatment of trauma in Texas, actively advocates
for trauma system development and works to
improve the availability and quality of trauma
care in Texas. Recertification is for a period
of 4 year.
No May 10
Election
With only 5
candidates filing for the 5 "at-large"
positions for Bellville Hospital District Board
of Director, the BHD board took official action
during their March 27 regular monthly meeting to
"Cancel" the May 10th election.
All 5 candidates are incumbents...Steve Lackey,
Gregg Lange, Clay Kistler, Mike Koehn and Steve
Zapalac. While Texas Election Law allows
the district to cancel the election if there is
no contested race, the 5 will not officially
take the oath of office until after the May 10
election has occurred. Meanwhile, it's business
as usual.

BGH to
celebrate 80 years of service in '08
How time flies
when you are having fun....
You don't look
your age....
Like a fine
wine, better with age.....
BGH celebrates 80 years of consecutive service to the
people of this greater area in 2008. A lot has
changed and a lot has stayed the same. You see,
we feel you can have state-of-the-art
equipment and still provide that down-home
tender, loving care that your grandmother
believed in. Don't believe us?
Ask anyone who's been a patient at BGH and you
will hear the same response time and time
again...."they treated me like
family."
More details
later about the official celebration being planned by
the Bellville Hospital Foundation.
