BELLVILLE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION The Bellville Hospital Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non profit entity duly formed to raise funds to support Bellville General Hospital. Bellville Hospital Foundation receives no financial aid from tax dollars or government entities. It relies solely on the generosity of its benefactors and supporters to continue its mission of assisting the local hospital. The Board of Directors of the Bellville Hospital Foundation is currently composed of 21 members, which includes the President of the Bellville General Hospital board of directors; the Administrator/CEO of the hospital; president of the Bellville Hospital District; president of the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary; and the Chief of Medical Staff of Bellville General Hospital. With the exception of the five above-mentioned directors, the Board is self-perpetuating. Directors are elected to 3-year terms. The Board meets monthly, the second Tuesday of every month, in the conference room of the hospital. Richard C. "Rit" Webb currently serves as chairman of the Bellville Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. Vice Chairman is Mike Aldredge; Margie K. Lovell serves as the Executive Director as well as Secretary/Treasurer.
Other Board Directors are:Jane Causey, Buck Eckermann, Anne Ford, C. Christophe Gay, MD, John S. Grube, Mary Jo Poulson Halbirt, Elizabeth Eder, Luke Luedeker, Mary Nell Kidwell, Clay Kistler, Bobby Lange, James Lindemann, Keith Linseisen, Michael Morris, Gloria Neumann, Gladys M. Oakley, James O'Jibway and Allison M. Richardson. These men and women share a vision and a commitment to educating the public of the importance of preserving and enhancing quality local healthcare in Austin County for future generations to come. Through charitable gifts and careful estate planning, donors can provide management of assets while providing a fixed or variable income for themselves or others for lifetime or a period of years. Gifts made in honor of a family member or in memory of a special friend or loved one help further the mission of the Bellville Hospital Foundation. Charitable giving is an important tradition for many people in Austin County. Memorial and tribute gifts allow a thoughtful remembrance while assuring that worthwhile values continue to influence the quality of life in Austin County. Each year, the Foundation sponsors the C. Gaylen Ackley Memorial Golf Classic held the third Friday in May. Site of the event is the beautiful 18-hole Stephen F. Austin Golf Course and Country Club located on the banks of the Brazos River near historic San Felipe, Texas. This fun-filled day of golf and fellowship is topped off with an awards presentation and banquet. Since 2001 when this event was first created by then Chairman of the Board, Keith R. Kidwell, the event has grown in popularity and success. It's more than just an afternoon of golf. It's a huge fundraiser for the Foundation with the 2010 event paying tribute to the memory of Keith Kidwell. Since the event began eleven years ago, the Foundation has netted in excess of $590,000 on this one annual event. SO you see, it's not just a golf tournament—it's a day that supporters of quality healthcare in rural Texas come together to raise funds for the only hospital in Austin County. Both Keith Kidwell and Gaylen Ackley believed in this mission and worked diligently to make more people aware of the impact a hospital has on the growth and prosperity of a community. We respect their efforts and carry on this event annually because we know they would want us to do so.
